PATHS has a rich history of partnerships that are critical to PATHS efforts to provide access to health-related services for the Dan River region. Here they are, broken down by category (Current Financial Support, Past Financial Support, and Service Delivery), along with a description of how the partnership works.
Current Financial Support:
- The Council of Community Services, Inc. (www.councilofcommunityservices.org): PATHS has received funding from CCS since 2003 to provide support and resources to patients affected by HIV/AIDS. This annual award grew to $211,000 for 2013.
- Danville Regional Foundation (www.drfonline.org): DRF provided PATHS with a grant in the amount of $354,000 in 2010 to purchase the equipment and hire the staff necessary to start "PATHS Community Dental Center - Danville", $10,000 in 2013 to support PATHS' participation in the "Reach Out & Read" Program, $10,000 in 2014 to revamp PATHS' web site, and $10,000 in 2015 to cover expenses associated with developing a community task-force to explore creative solutions to address the lack of access to pediatric behavioral health services in the Dan River Region.
- United Way of Danville-Pittsylvania County (www.liveuniteddpc.org): The United Way of Danville-Pittsylvania County has supported PATHS work ever since 2005. This year, United Way has committed $42,000 to support salaries for PATHS' Patient Navigators (who help our uninsured patients access specialty care and other much-needed community resources) and work PATHS does to ensure quality service delivery through all PATHS' programs.
- Virginia Community Health Care Association (www.vacommunityhealth.org): In addition to providing PATHS with a wealth of resources to support it's operating needs, the VACHC also provides financial support, funneled down from Virginia's General Assembly, to support both operating needs and medication assistance.
- Virginia Department of Health (www.vdh.state.va.us): VDH helps provide PATHS Community Medical Centers with test kits and $30,000 to provide free rapid HIV testing and to increase community awareness and knowledge of HIV and AIDS, as well as funding to cover vaccine expenses to increase access to vacination for the low-income/uninsured and Medicaid population in the Dan River Region.

- City of Danville - Community Development Block Grant Program (www.danville-va.gov/index.aspx?NID=468)
- The Community Foundation of the Dan River Region (www.cfdrr.org): PATHS proudly celebrates a long, vibrant history of funding from the Community Foundation. In 2005, PATHS was awarded $5,000 to help increase patient access to prescription medications. In 2007, PATHS received $8,000 to help support activities related to serving patients affected by HIV/AIDS. In 2012, CFDRR awarded PATHS $10,000 to support the "A New Lease on Life Program" in partnership with The Free Clinic of Danville and Danville-Pittsylvania Community Services.
- The Danville Regional Medical Center Auxilary: The Auxilary is to thank for contributions dating back as early as 2002 that were used to help provide patients with prescription medication assistance.
- The Danville Regional Medical Center Foundation: The DRMC Foundation gave PATHS the first grant it ever received, which was in 2001 in the amount of $75,000 to cover initial startup expenses. Later, a grant in the amount of $350,000 was given to PATHS to help pay down the mortgage of PATHS' facility at 705 Main Street, Danville. This was one of the last grants made before the foundation disbanded.
- Virginia Health Care Foundation (www.vhcf.org): VHCF has supported PATHS' MEDAssist program with an annual commitment of $62,500 per year, every year since 2004. VHCF awarded a partnership with The Free Clinic of Danville and Danville-Pittsylvania Community Services a 3-year grant valuing $187,221 which provides the financial support necessary to hire a mental health clinician to be available to see PATHS and Free Clinic patients at no charge under a program called "A New Lease on Life". Most recently, VHCF awarded PATHS a grant in 2013 in the amount of $132,500 to help cover the first year staffing expenses involved in opening "PATHS Community Dental Center - Boydton".
Service Delivery Partners:
- Averett University (www.averett.edu): PATHS CHAAP (HIV/AIDS) Case Managers do guest lectures on recent developments in the clinical treatment of HIV/AIDS, as well as general education around sexually transmitted diseases.
- Danville City Schools (http://web.dps.k12.va.us): PATHS regularly accepts invitations from schools across the city to participate in educational events designed to promote positive and healthy habits.
- Danville Community College (www.dcc.vccs.edu): PATHS routinely invites students in DCC's nursing and dental assisting programs to complete clinical rotations in PATHS' dental and medical centers.
- Danville Dental Society: PATHS and the Danville Dental Society partner by way of supporting a bi-directional referral network that works to ensure that the oral health needs of South Central Virginia are met in the most efficient way possible.
- Danville Department of Social Services (http://www.danville-va.gov/index.aspx?nid=304): PATHS refers patient to Danvile DSS to be screened for Medicaid, SNAP (Food Stamps), Energy Assistance, and TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families). Danville DSS refers patients to PATHS that need primary medical and general dentistry services.
- Danville-Pittsylvania Community Services (www.dpcs.org): DPCS accepts referrals from PATHS for patients diagnosed with serious mental illness, and PATHS' accepts referrals from DPCS for patients needing a primary care home, and/or a dental care home.
- Danville-Pittsylvania Health District (www.vdh.state.va.us/lhd/pittsylvania): The Danville-Pittsylvania Health District refers patients needing primary medical and general dentistry services to PATHS, while PATHS refers patients needing STD testing, OB/GYN services, and WIC (Women's, Infant's and Children's Services). The two organizations also work together to increase access to mammography and cervical cancer screening for women under the "Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention Program".
- Danville Regional Medical Center (www.danvilleregional.com): DRMC provides patients served by PATHS with access to some radiology services, and reduced fees for other hospital services (i.e., inpatient and laboratory testing).
- The Free Clinic of Danville (http://danvillefreeclinic.com): PATHS provides patients served by The Free Clinic with access to prescription medications through PATHS' MEDAssist Program and PATHS Community Pharmacy. The Free Clinic, PATHS, and Danville-Pittsylvania Community Services collaborate to provide the low-income, uninsured with access to mental health services through the "New Lease on Life Program".
- Henry-Martinsville Social Services (http://www.henrycountyva.gov/Social-Services.html): PATHS refers patients to Henry-Martinsville Social Services to be screened for Medicaid, SNAP (Food Stamps), Energy Assistance, and TANF (Temporary Assitance for Needy Families). Henry-Martinsville Social Services refers patients to PATHS that need primary medical and general dentistry services.
- Martinsville Henry County Coalition for Health and Wellness (www.healthycommunitymhc.org): PATHS helps to refer uninsured kids to the Coalition so that the can be enrolled in the FAMIS (Family Access to Medical Insurance insurance program.
- Mecklenburg County Department of Social Services (http://www.mecklenburgva.com/Social-Services.aspx): PATHS refers patients to Mecklenburg County DSS to be screened for Medicaid, SNAP (Food Stamps), Energy Assistance, and TANF. Mecklenburg County DSS refers patients to PATHS that need primary medical and general dentistry services.
- Mecklenburg County Health Department (http://www.vdh.state.va.us/LHD/Southside/locations.htm): The Mecklenburg Health Department refers patients needing primary medical and general dentistry services to PATHS, while PATHS refers patients needing STD testing, OB/GYN services, and WIC.
- Memorial Hospital of Martinsville (http://www.martinsvillehospital.com): Memorial Hospital provides patients served by PATHS with access to some radiology services, and reduced fees for other hospital services (i.e., inpatient and laboratory testing).
- Piedmont Community Services (www.piedmontcsb.org): Piedmont refers patients needing primary medical serivces, and accepts referrals from PATHS for patients in need of behavioral health and substance abuse services. Piedmont also provides access for PATHS providers to have peer-to-peer consults with psychiatrists when necessary to ensure patients have an effective treatment plan for behavioral health related issues.
- Pittsylvania County Community Action, Inc. (www.pccainc.org): PATHS and PCCA provide and accept referrals from each other to ensure that patients access services provided by both organizations in the most efficient way possible. PATHS and PCCA have also partnered to strive for increasing the number of children enrolled in the FAMIS program in the Danville and Pittsylvania County region. The two organizations routinely work together by way of PCCA providing housing assistance to those affected by HIV/AIDS, while PATHS provides medical case management and other enabling services to those affected by HIV/AIDS.
- Pittsylvania County Department of Social Services (http://www.dss.virginia.gov/localagency): PATHS refers patients to Pittsylvania County DSS to be screened for Medicaid, SNAP (Food Stamps), Energy Assistance, and TANF. Pittsylvania County DSS refers patients to PATHS that need primary medical and general dentistry services.
- Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital (www.hrhs.org): Commitment to patient-centered care is the backbone of Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital. Fueled by the expertise of a well-established medical staff representing more than two-dozen specialties, Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital remains focused on excellent care—a tradition which has been carried throughout the hospital's 60-plus year history. And now, backed by the innovation of Sentara Healthcare, they continue delivering the care patients expect and the quality they deserve.
- Southside Community Services (www.sscsb.org): Southside refers patients needing primary medical serivces, and accepts referrals from PATHS for patients in need of behavioral health and substance abuse services. Southside also provides access for PATHS' providers to have peer-to-peer consults with psychiatrists when necessary to ensure patients have an effective treatment plan for behavioral health related issues.
- The University of Virginia Health System (www.healthsystem.virginia.edu): PATHS and UVA have partnered since 2004 to provide access to specialty care services via "Telemedicine", which allows patients to see UVA specialists without having to travel long distances. UVA also works with PATHS' staff to try and streamline the financial screening process for low-income, uninsured patients who need specialty care that is not available locally.
- VCU Community Memorial Hospital (CMH) (www.vcu-cmh.org): VCU Community Memorial Hospital (CMH) is a community owned nonprofit hospital that is dedicated to being the leader in health services for the south-central region of Virginia and portions of northern North Carolina.
- Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center - Telemedicine Center (http://www.telemedicine.vcuhealth.org/): PATHS Community Dental Center hosts three (3) fourth-year dental students, and one (1) dental hygenie student from the VCU School of Dentistry per week when school is session. This provides the students with an opportunity to learn in a real-time environment and to learn about Danville and Southside as possible options for starting their careers, all the while providing PATHS with additional staffing that increases capacity in terms of the number of patients that can be seen per day.
- Virginia Commonwealth University, School of Dentistry (www.dentistry.vcu.edu): PATHS Community Dental Center hosts three (3) fourth-year dental students, and one (1) dental hygenie student from the VCU School of Dentistry per week when school is session. This provides the students with an opportunity to learn in a real-time environment and to learn about Danville and Southside as possible options for starting their careers, all the while providing PATHS with additional staffing that increases capacity in terms of the number of patients that can be seen per day.
- West Piedmont Health District (www.vdh.state.va.us/LHD/westpied/): The West Piedmont Health District refers patients needing primary medical services to PATHS, while PATHS refers patients needing some immunizations, STD testing, WIC, and assistance with family planning. PATHS also works with West Piedmont to help increase access to breast and cerfical cancer screening through the "Every Woman's Life" program.
