Jeffrey W. Hively, M.D. will join the Piedmont Access to Health Services (PATHS) clinic in Boydton by July 1, according to Kay Crane, CEO of PATHS. At about the same time, PATHS will be moving into the downtown complex last occupied by Healthcare on the Square.

Hively most recently practiced medicine at Clarksville Family Practice on College Street. A 1993 graduate of Marshall University in West Virginia, he has spent the past 16 years specializing in family medicine.

PATHS has been expanding its services to local patients since opening its doors in Boydton in July. Just months earlier, PATHS was awarded federal approval to operate a qualified community health center, replacing HealthCare on the Square, which closed its doors on May 31.

Even before the demise of Healthcare on the Square, Crane said it was obvious there is an ongoing demand for quality medical care in the area. The patient volume has risen so quickly that, in less than a year, PATHS has outgrown its existing facility. As a result, as of July 1 when Hively joins the practice, PATHS will move its operations to the former Boydton Medical Center complex in downtown Boydton.

In January, PATHS re-opened the fitness center previously housed inside the complex. Crane is also working on restoring the dental practice, which once operated out of the medical center’s lower level.
