The US Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) announced today that Piedmont Access To Health Services, Inc. (PATHS), headquartered in Danville, VA, has been awarded a $2.447,040.00 grant to expand the organization’s operation in Danville.

The grant will cover capital expenditures related to a 9,000 sf addition to the 18,000 sf facility located at 705 Main Street. The addition will provide space to expand PATHS’ already existing pharmacy as well as to begin offering new services, like OB/GYN, and a central laboratory whereby PATHS’ patients can access walk-in testing. In addition to expenses related to construction, the grant will also help provide PATHS with the resources necessary to upgrade PATHS’ current information technology infrastructure.

PATHS is a non-profit 501c3 organization that has been providing healthcare to all citizens in South Central Virginia, regardless of their ability to pay, since 2001. The vision of PATHS is to provide access to quality primary and specialty care, prescription medication, case management and other ancillary services. It is PATHS’ core value that everyone has the right to quality healthcare.

PATHS’s expanded services will be coordinated in partnership with local community leaders like Danville Regional Medical Center and the Virginia Department of Health/Health Department, as well as, the physicians in private practice throughout the region. Kay Crane, PATHS’ CEO said: “This is another example of the community working together to ensure that healthcare stays available to everyone in our community, including the un- and underinsured.”
