This past Friday evening, staff was alerted by the office's security system monitoring company that a car had collided with the building.  This was following a winter storm of ice and freezing temperatures earlier that afternoon.  Staff immediately responded to find that a Honda Accord with Maryland tags had collided with, and completely entered the building on the building's north side, in the portion of the office dedicated to Dr. John McConnaughey's pediatric practice.  Police assisted in contacting wrecker services to remove the vehicle.  Once removed, it was determined that the entire reception area and one exam room were completely destroyed.  The collision had jarred the building such that ceiling tiles were disheveled throughout.

Police reported back to the scene approximately two hours later while staff was finishing boarding up the facility and noted that they had successfully apprehended one of the individuals involved.

As the result of quick response, strong emergency preparedness plans, and teamwork, PATHS has already began the process of repairing the facility, and has made arrangements whereby Dr. McConnaughey and the rest of the Chatham staff will be temporarily shifted around in the building such that the office could open Monday morning as usual.

As of the time of this release, PATHS had not received any further information from police as to the details behind what caused the accident, who was involved, or what has happened with the individual that was apprehended.
